Privacy policy

This Privacy Policy applies to Biocean’s websites, including but not limited to, the websites located at: www.aquanutrition.ca, www.biocean.ca, www.bioceancanada.ca, www.bioceancanada.com, www.oceanplus.com and www.oceanplus.info (collectively referred to as the “Site”).

Before you begin enjoying our Site, you must know that in addition to the Terms of Use, which governs your use of the Site, your use of this Site is also subject to the following Privacy Policy. Your use of the Site constitutes your acceptance of this Privacy Policy.

We respect your privacy and recognize the need for appropriate protection and management of any personally identifiable information you may share. Since we collect certain types of information about our Site visitors, you should fully understand the conditions of our collection and use of such information. This Privacy Policy governs Biocean's collection, use and/or disclosure of your personal information. Biocean reserves the right to modify, add or remove portions of this Privacy Policy at any time, without notice, acting in its sole and unfettered discretion.  If we decide to change this Privacy Policy, we will post those changes on the Site, which will be effective immediately upon posting. Your continued use of the Site after such modifications will constitute your acknowledgement of the changes and your agreement to abide by and be bound by the modified Privacy Policy.

Non-Identifiable Information Automatically Collected and Stored
When you view our Site, we may store some information on your computer. This information will be in the form of a "cookie" or similar file. "Cookies" are pieces of data stored on the visitor's computer tied to information about the visitor. Information gathered through cookies and web server logs may include information such as the date and time of visits, the pages viewed, time spent at the Site and the websites visited just before and just after our Site. We may routinely gather information on Site activities, such as data on how many people visit the Site, the pages they visit, where they come from, how long they stay, etc. Site visitor information is collected on an aggregate, anonymous basis, which means that no personal information is associated with this data. 

An Internet Protocol (IP) address is a number automatically assigned to your computer whenever you access the Internet.  This number does not identify your name, e-mail address or other personal information.  If you request information from this Site, our server will enter your IP address into a log.  We use this information to measure Site traffic, to help us to understand how people are using our Site and to hopefully improve your online experience. The Site collects this information due to the technological requirements for Web use. The server needs this information to be able to send you files compatible with the computer equipment you are using. Rest assured that none of these requirements enable personal identification.

Personally Identifiable Information
We may collect data that you provide to us voluntarily through our Contact Us page, such as your name, postal address, e-mail address, telephone number and other personal information (information about an identifiable individual). Personal information does not include business contact information, such as name, title, business address and business telephone number when used for business communications. We will not sell, share or otherwise distribute your personally identifiable information to third parties except as provided herein. Specifically, the contact information we collect may be used for our own internal tracking purposes, order placement, information correction, internal records, to respond to your questions, and to provide you with information we believe may be of interest to you. Additionally, personally identifiable information may occasionally be transferred to third parties who act on our behalf or in connection with our business, for further processing in accordance with the purposes for which the data was originally collected. Where disclosure of personally identifiable information to a third party is likely or necessary, further explanation may be provided, where appropriate, at such collection points as to the intended use of the data. If a new purpose arises for which we require the use of your personal information, we will ask you for your consent.

Information that is not personal or is not associated with any personally identifiable data, such as questions, comments, ideas and suggestions, shall be deemed to be non-confidential and we shall be free to disclose and use it for any purpose, without any obligation whatsoever to you.

Personal information that does not have a specific purpose or that no longer fulfills its intended purpose will be destroyed in a secured fashion.  We will only retain personal information for the duration of its intended use or as otherwise required by law.

In order to use the Site, it is not necessary for you to provide any information that identifies you personally.  In general, you can visit our Site without telling us who you are or revealing any personal information.  However, if you want to access certain features offered through this Site, it may be necessary to provide personal information.  If you do not want to give us any personal information, you can choose not to use those features of our Site.

We work hard to ensure that our systems are secure and that they meet industry standards.  To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have security measures in place to attempt to protect against the loss, misuse and alteration of the personal information under our control. These measures include:  internal security measures, reviews of data collection, as well as physical security measures to guard against unauthorized access to systems where personal data is stored. No personal information will be used for commercial purposes, and it will remain confidential.

Legally Required Disclosure of Information
Though we make every effort to preserve visitor privacy, we may be compelled to disclose personal information when required by law wherein we have a good-faith belief that such action is legally required or to comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court order or other legal matter. We reserve the right to cooperate with law enforcement and other officials in any investigation requiring personal or account information. We may also report to other organizations about improper or unlawful user activities to our Site and this reporting may include disclosure of personal information related to those individuals conducting such improper or unlawful activities.

Any third-party websites linked to or from this Site may have different privacy policies and practices. You should carefully review these other websites' privacy policies in order to determine how each website may use any personal information you provide. This Privacy Policy is no longer applicable when you leave our Site.
